It's a political game changer, not bribe to voters, says Chidu
Gearing up for the next general elections, scheduled in 2014, the Congress Tuesday termed its big-ticket plan to directly transfer cash to various social welfare beneficiaries as a “game-changer” and “politically revolutionary” step for UPA-II.
“It will be a game changer,” Finance Minister P Chidambaram said at a press conference at the Congress headquarters here.

Sweeping victory for Narendra Modi, Latest opinion poll predicts
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is all set to lead the state for the third successive term, with an increased number of seats, says the opinion poll conducted by ABP News and AC Nielsen in October.
The opinion poll conducted all over Gujarat has projected 124 seats for the BJP, seven more than the 117 it won in the 2007 assembly election.
While the opinion poll brings cheers to the BJP and its supremo in Gujarat, Narendra Modi, it scales down the share of Congress seats to just 51. That is eight short of the 59 seats the party won in the last assembly elections... Read More

Aam Admi Party - Kejriwal names political outfit 'Aam Admi Party'
Arvind Kejriwal named his new political outfit the Aam Admi Party at a meeting here Saturday of around 300 founder members, a supporter said. The Congress objected to the name saying "aam aadmi" was its plank.
The member, who did not wish to be named, said the party's name was proposed by activist Mayank Gandhi and Chandramohan.
Ahead of the meeting he told reporters outside the venue, Kejriwal said: "This party is for common men, women and children of the country, who are tired of politicians."
"We will form a national executive for running the party and also discuss some 25-30 important issues," he said.
The Congress objected to the choice of the party's name, saying the slogan of "aam aadmi" has long been linked to the Congress...Related News

Actress Vidya Balan took his co-star Emraan Hashmi for a ride in a Nano on the streets of Mumbai while shooting for their upcoming film "Ghanchakkar".
The two actors explored the streets of Mumbai in a yellow Nano as they set out to search something in the middle of the night.

CBI court summons BS Yeddyurappa in graft case
A CBI special court has issued summons to former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, his kin and others in a graft case related to a mining scam case during his tenure from 2008 to 2011, said a senior official on Wednesday.
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Venkata Sundarshan, who issued the summons on November 16, directed Yeddyurappa, his sons BY Raghavendra and BY Vijayendra, son-in-law RN Sohan Kumar, former minister Krishnaiah Shetty and eight others, including chief executive and vice-president of a steel company in Bellary to appear in court on December 10.
Raghavendra is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Shimoga, about 260 km from here, and the home town of Yeddyurappa.

Hillary Clinton urges India to play larger role in Asia
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has lauded India as an important player in the Indo-Pacific region and has also urged New Delhi to play a larger role in the region's affairs.
"We've made it a strategic priority to support India's Look East policy and to encourage Delhi to play a larger role in Asian institutions and affairs. It's exciting to see the developments as the world's largest democracy and a dynamic emerging economy begins to contribute more broadly to the region," Clinton said in her speech at Perth's University of Western Australia.
"It's also important to see the burgeoning relationship between Australia and India," she said.

Infrastructure development to be focus: PM Manmohan to ministers
